MKM takes over the production facilities of the CSN Carl Schreiber GmbH

Hettstedt, June 2, 2017. Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH (MKM) is to take over the production facilities of the CSN Carl Schreiber GmbH, a company steeped in tradition and based in Neunkirchen (North Rhine-Westfalia) that filed for self-administered insolvency at the start of this year. The company’s creditor assembly has now approved the sale of the production facilities to MKM. The CSN Carl Schreiber GmbH supplies plate made of copper and copper alloys to customers all over the world. MKM will take over the hacksaws, presses, annealing furnaces and sandblasting system and relocate them to the Hettstedt site. Here MKM will expand its production capacity in the sheet and plate business and extend its product portfolio. In the process, MKM will ensure that the former customers of the CSN Carl Schreiber GmbH will continue to be reliably supplied.

MKM forges ahead with its investment program at the Hettstedt Location.

“In taking this step, we are investing in new manufacturing processes and in extending our product portfolio”, says Roland Harings, MKM’s CEO. The company is focusing fully on the Hettstedt location. Through to 2020, MKM will be investing around EUR 100 million in the Hettstedt location in order to realize the growth anticipated through a broader product offering, new customers and rapid internationalization. In these endeavors, the company will focus on electromobility, digitalization, renewable energy generation and power transmission, all areas of application characterized by a growing need for copper products.

The takeover of the production facilities is subject to the customary proviso of approval by the German Federal Cartel Office. The parties have agreed to keep the purchase price of the production facilities confidential.
