MKM expands production capacity in the sheets and plates sector
Owing to the planned growth and the high levels of customer demand, MKM has considerably expanded its manufacturing capacity in the sheets and plates sector and reduced cycle times. In the process, MKM has invested in annealing furnaces, cutting capacity and surface processing. The sheets and plates sector also solves very demanding tasks. This allows MKM to process larger volumes of silver indium (AgIn0.5) applications that have very low temperature tolerances. The products are used in manufacturing displays, for example – for large, flexible OLED screens, smartphones, tablets and touchscreens. Silver indium has a particularly high electrical conductivity. The sheets and plates sector traditionally supplies the electrical industry, the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding as well as plant engineering – for example, for desalination of sea water. And lastly, the Hettstedt sheets and plates are used for large heat exchangers. MKM processes around 50 alloys from copper-based materials made of zinc, manganese, nickel, silicone and silver in the sheets and plates sector alone.
MKM is a global technology leader for copper and brass semis. The company has invested more than EUR 400 million since 1997. As a unique manufacturer in the world, MKM offers wire, strips, tubes, rods and sheets from a single source. In the past year, MKM processed more than 260,000 tons with a workforce of some 1,200 employees. Approximately 1,000 customers from 60 countries spread across the globe rely on MKM. This positions MKM as the global leader in the electronics and construction industry, the solar sector, plant engineering, the automotive industry, as well as the aerospace sector and in telecommunications.
