MKM is expanding production capacity for CU-OFE
Owing to the high demand for high-purity and oxygen-free copper (Cu-OFE), MKM has significantly expanded its production capacity: In the first quarter of 2017, MKM has commissioned two other new systems with a production capacity of 26,000 tonnes (investment volume: 5 million Euro), which produce the oxygen-free copper wire (OFE). Characterised by a higher conductivity than conventional products, the oxygen-free wire produces primary products for further processing at MKM.
This wire can be formed into bars during further processing, for example. MKM customers use these bars in the fields of electric mobility, in transformer production, in switchgears, in power distribution systems or for wind turbines.
MKM is a global technology leader for copper and brass semis. The company has invested more than EUR 400 million since 1997. As a unique manufacturer in the world, MKM offers wire, strips, tubes, rods and sheets from a single source. In the past year, MKM processed more than 260,000 tons with a workforce of some 1,200 employees. Approximately 1,000 customers from 60 countries spread across the globe rely on MKM. This positions MKM as the global leader in the electronics and construction industry, the solar sector, plant engineering, the automotive industry, as well as the aerospace sector and in telecommunications.
